Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says the number of calls is just a fraction above last year.

"We were at 257 incidents, just a slight increase but all the areas are fairly close," he says.  "They jockey for positions if you will for our responses but overall they look fairly consistent."

The department were kept within the Town limits for the most part during the quarter says Thevenot.

"Most of our locations for the responses out of the 261, 201 were in town responses and 60 calls were outside of town. 77 percent in town and 23 percent out of town."

Fire Fighters completed over 1600 hours of training on numerous situations during the quarter which is remarkable to their development as first responders the Fire Chief said.

Thevenot adds they've stepped up their annual inspections to not be log jammed by the end of the year to get initial inspections completed.

"We were very busy, we're finishing up our annual inspections we had a total of 759 annual inspections that are 99 percent complete."
