A big upswing in the numbers at the Grande Prairie Stompede Tarp Auction Friday, April 9.

Okotoks Mark Sutherland, who hails from the Swan City orginally, came out the big winner with $11,000 and the nights top bid.

High River's Jason Glass wasn't far behind as he picked up $10,000, while fellow High River driver, Jordie Fike was in the middle of the pack with $5,500.

Mark's son, Dayton Sutherland, did alright as well, as the second year driver pulled in $6,000 in sponsorship cash.

Overall, the Stompede auction brought in $240,700 up $78,700 from the $162,000 bid in 2017.

The show kicks off the WPCA season as they get rolling at Evergreen Park on Wednesday, May 30.
