It was a big night for the Okotoks Oilers as they stole away a 3 to 2 win from the Brooks Bandits in Brooks in overtime last night.

The teams are facing off for the South Championship, in a best of seven series, in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Trey DeGraaf says a strong start helped the team ensure they came out of Brooks with one win.

Friday night the Bandits pounded the Oilers 9 to 2.

"We really didn't feel like the score reflected how the game went," said DeGraaf. " We came into tonight with a fresh mind, new game, new day."

He added the plan was to slow the Bandits down, and it worked out.

They also wanted to send a message that the loss wasn't how this series was going to continue.

"We believed the whole game, whether we were down, or it was tied that we could win."

DeGraaf added the team was going to enjoy having a day off on Sunday and then get back to business on Monday.

"We play even better on home ice. And hopefully take care of business on home ice."

Jordan Xavier got the winner sending the team home with a win and a loss on the weekend.
