The Okotoks Oilers are making the most of a three-game road trip against northern rivals in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this weekend.

The Oilers launched into the road-trip with a big win in Grand Prairie Friday night shutting out the Storm in a 4-0 victory.

They went onto to defeat the Wolverines 3 to 1 last night in Whitecourt.

After being down a goal in the first period, Quinn Olson, Oilers forward, says the team received a much needed boost from Tyler Deis, head coach, during the intermission.

“We faced some adversity, but coming in from the period break Deis told us that we need to pick it up, get out there and get some big hits,” he added.

The Oilers tied the game up in the second with a power play goal by Kyle Gordon, forward.

They took the lead late in the frame with a breakaway goal by Austin Wong, forward, and topped the scoring off with an unassisted goal in the dying seconds of the third by Nick Blankenburg, defence.

The Oilers finish their three-game road trip this afternoon in Sherwood Park as they take on the Crusaders at 2:15 p.m.
