The Okotoks Oilers defeated their second northern challenger of the weekend with a 4 to 1 win over the Spruce Grove Saints December 9th at the Pason Centennial Arena in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Defenceman Carson Beers says they were prepared for the Saints.

"They are a good team," said Beers. "Their players are strong, their depth is big and in the league it is big to have depth and they always have that, and that is why they are always in the top of the league. It will be a fun test to play them again."

The Oilers were up 3 to 0 and yet the Saints kept hanging in.

"We were over thinking everything. We thought they were going to quit, they are a championship organization over there and when they get down they are not rattled at all so they are just going to keep playing with what they think will give them the best chance to win."

The Oilers also defeated the Drayton Valley Thunder 8 to 3 on December 8th.

The team hits the road next weekend to play the Saints and the Thunder again in the North.
