Rodeo's biggest showcase kicks off two weeks of action starting Wednesday, December 5, with the National Finals Rodeo getting underway in Las Vegas.

Nanton saddle bronc rider Clay Elliot is the only local taking part, and comes in ranked number seven.

There are three other Alberta Cowboys competing as well.

Big Valley saddle bronc rider Zeke Thurston is ranked number five heading into the NFR.

Donalda's Curtis Cassidy comes in as number one in steer wrestling, while Provost's Scott Guenthner is ranked number three.

The NFR runs until Sunday, December 16.
