The Lomond Lakers open their inaugural season in the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League Friday, September 21, in Three Hills against the Thrashers.

The Lakers were 0-and-2 in the pre-season, getting beaten badly in both games, but Coach Mike Glawson says that's exactly what pre-season games are for.

"I'm not overly concerned about the scores in the games that we had. You know, I was more looking at compete level and things of that nature throughout the exhibition season. We really went into the exhibition season blind, without working on a whole lot. So, that's the biggest thing I was looking for was the compete factor our guys had."

Glawson says they've made a change or two to their line up since their last pre-season game.

"We've added a few players as far as some players that were released from a couple of other Junior "B" teams, the Coaldale Copperheads and the Okotoks Bisons. So, we've added a couple of really strong 21 year olds, which should really help us out."

The Lakers are on the road for their first three games, but will call Claresholm home for the rest of this season while their rink in Lomond is repaired after being damaged by all the snow we saw last winter.
