Even though he's without a team this year, former Okotoks Dawg, and big league pitcher, Jim Henderson isn't giving up on baseball just yet.

He was released by the Chicago Cubs in the off-season, but says once he's rehabbed his shoulder he'll be back on the mound, likely next season.

"As long as the shoulder responds I think I'm going to get the body into the best shape possible. I know a lot of guys have taken a year off and come back. So, that's the goal right now. I still have the dream in mind and want to get a few more years out of this body."

Henderson will spend the first few games of the Dawgs season managing the team, while regular Coaches, Tyler Graham and Andy Peterson wrap up the college season in the U.S.

The Dawgs kick things off Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m. at home to the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
