Even with 20 degree temperatures forecast for the rest of the week, don't be in a big rush to haul out your golf clubs.

Head pro over at Crystal Ridge in Okotoks, Greg Johnson, says there's a ways to go yet.

"Yeah, we're still looking at a couple of weeks. Obviously we had a really heavy snow pack this year and just in Okotoks and in town, the snow's sticking around a little bit more than what we were hoping for."

Johnson says the delay really cuts into their bottom line.

He says they were able to open March 30 of 2017 and by the time they open for the season they'll be almost six weeks behind that thanks to the weather.

He says the course seems to have come out of winter OK, but they'll still need to do some checking, and hope for a quick melt to avoid any issues with snow mould.

If you really need to get out though, the Highwood Golf Club is opening their driving range Thursday, April 26.
