Foothills FC played one season at the Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks, and they won a PDL championship trophy.

But club officials say the team won't be back in 2019.

With the first season of the Canadian Premier League in 2019, Cavalry FC will be taking on Foothills FC as their junior team. The two teams now share a training facility in South Calgary.

New Head Coach Leon Hapgood says the long-term plan was always to move closer to the team's practice facility in Shepard.

"We hope you enjoyed watching us play. If you want to come out and continue to support us, feel free to reach out to the Club and myself," Hapgood said.

Tofa Fakunle is the only returning player from the 2018 championship squad. He says soccer in Okotoks is still thriving.

"They welcomed us in, and were there for our games. I remember the soccer association out there was vital for us," Fakunle said.

Both Fakunle and Hapgood gave messages of thanks to the Foothills residents who came out to support the team in 2018.

"I think it was a unique experience. We enjoyed it, it was a close-knit environment. We thank the community of Okotoks for supporting us, and we hope they continue to support us this year as well," Fakunle said.

Foothills FC were undefeated in the games they played at the Composite field.
