A great day Friday, June 8, for the High River Flyers, Eli Gosselin Memorial Golf Tournament.

Team President Mike Bliss says he can't get over the support for the team in the town.

"It's growing every year. Because we seem to get more fans in the stands every year. You know in this tournament, this is probably our biggest turn-out ever."

Bliss says the Flyers continue to be a big part of the community, and it shows in the interest being generated around the team.

"You know we just had out AGM as well, we had a great turnout for that. Probably more people than we've ever seen at our AGM's . So, I mean people are caring about the team and they want to see the team succeed and that's all positive.

Bliss says he's the only one of the Flyers Executive to return to the board as President, he says everyone else is pretty much brand new including the brains behind High River's Hockeyville bid with Melissa Pryor taking over as the teams Secretary Treasurer.

Close to 140 golfers took in the day, which saw money raised go to the Flyers, the Eli Gosselin Scholarship Fund, High River Minor Hockey and the High River Food Bank.
