The High River Flyers are getting ready for the start of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League season.

Coach Tyson Avery says last season was a tough one, but there was a turn around near the end with the addition of Davis Sheldon

"When we brought Davis in, he really did help the team, just being that Junior A guy that came down, just needed a bit of a re-set, and he just showed them hockey can be fun, you've just got to work hard, you've got to put this effort in and anything can happen. I think the guys, once they saw that they started gelling and getting a long better and pretty much becoming a family off the ice," Avery says.

Avery expects a young, fast skilled club on the ice this season.

"We've got kids who want to move on, who are committed to hockey, it's not just the next step to beer league, you know 'I'm here, I want to develop and I want to move on," he says

The Flyers host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Friday night at the Rec-Plex.
