The High River Flyers get to kick the tires on their new number one standing this weekend with a two game road trip.

The Flyers moved into top spot in the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League's South Division with a 7-4 win over the Okotoks Bisons Friday.

Now Coach Tyson Avery says they need to defend it with games in Strathmore and Coaldale Friday and Saturday.

"Especially this time of year I don't think there's any guaranteed wins anymore. I think it's just, if you work hard and we'll keep winning. But if the guys want to take a night off, you know, we're out of first place. Because every other team is going to keep working hard. And that's the way it's going to be for the rest of the year."

Avery says it's strange to look at the standings as see High River in first, but it feels great.
