The Foothills Falcons football team is in a year of rebuilding after losing a few key players to graduation last year.

In their first game of the season the Tier II team lost 28 to 8 to Tier I team LCI out of Lethbridge.

Coach Darren Olsen says they beat Strathmore last weekend 34 to 6 in the Big Rock Conference.

It is Strathmores first year in the conference.

"Well we have a lot of guys returning on defence," said Olsen. "So that is going to be our strength at the start and help us get through some close games. We'll be relying on that to start with, but our offence is coming together, we have some really strong young guys playing."

Olsen says the team is working harder every week to get a little bit better and it happened when they played Strathmore so they were happy with that result.

This week they are playing Hunting Hills in Red Deer.

"Which is a team that we beat in the provincial semi finals last year. We have played them every year for the past six years. We have great rivalry with them and it is always a close competitive game so we are looking forward to that it is going to be a good game."
