The Willow Creek Cobras are a solid number two in the Tier IV Football Alberta rankings this week as they're 2-and-0 to start the season.

Usually at the start of the year teams struggle a bit on offence as players work to learn the system, but Cobras Coach Tim Bryson says it's the opposite for them this year as they've managed to rack up 95 points in those two wins.

"We've got enough returning players on offence. Our quarterback Robbie Hoffman, who totally lit it up last year in the provincial semi's and finals. And then two returning offensive linemen. And the O-line has come along really, really well. They've really gelled nicely. We kind of suspected that would be the case, given the personnel."

Bryson says his defence will be a work in progress, but he says they're showing signs of improvement.

Meanwhile, the Cobras and W.R. Meyers Rebels out of Taber are going to be battling for top spot in Tier IV all year long.

The Cobras remain in top spot in the latest rankings thanks to their 2-and-0 record, while the Rebels are second, despite being 3-and-0.

Bryson says the Rebels will be looking to knock off his club this season.

"They know that they were the second best team in the Province last year. And they're on a bit of a mission I think. They are looking to make it all the way and win the whole thing, so they're looking to get their pound of flesh back on us. But, we'll have something to say about that come November I suspect."

The Cobras host Catholic Central under the lights Friday, September 21 at 7 o'clock at Cobras Field in Claresholm.
