Girls lacrosse teams gathered at the Crescent Point Field House this past weekend for the 9th Annual Girls Rock Lacrosse Tournament.

Brent Robinson, board member for the Okotoks Raiders, says they had a team from Cranbrook this year, in addition to the teams from across Alberta.

" It's held annually by the Okotoks Raiders for girls lacrosse teams all across Alberta, and we had a team from Cranbrook come this year as well," he said.

The Calgary Sabre Cats, Axemen and Hornets dominated the tournament with gold medals in the Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget divisions.

Robinson also says the sport of lacrosse is growing, and provides opportunities for players to build skill for other athletic endeavours.

" It's a great sport for girls. It's really growing and provides lots of opportunities." said Robinson.

The Beaumont Raiders took home the gold in the Novice division, the only team winning a medal that was not Calgary based.

In addition, our very own Okotoks Raiders took home the silver medal in the Novice division.
