It was a night of celebrations at the Foothills Composite High School Thursday, June 1.

The school held their annual Athletic Banquet and Awards Ceremony, giving out around 80 awards to team and individuals who excelled in Falcons Athletics over the 2017 season.

Darren Olson, Athletic Director at the Comp says many people were in attendance to recognize the athletic achievements of Comp students.

"We put on a big spread at the gym and we do team, and individual recognition awards. It's a lot of fun, the kids dress up, all the parents are there, all the coaches are there, it's jut a good night of socializing and honouring the accomplishments of the teams and players."

Olson shares Athletics at FCHS are a major pillar at the school, and wants to thank the community for all the support over the season.

"We definitely pride ourselves on the accomplishments of our athletic teams for sure, its a very supportive community in Okotoks for high school sports, when we host games there's always younger brothers and sisters there it's kind of a big family event."

A scholarship in memory of Olson's wife was also awarded to three deserving high school seniors.

"It's only the second year we've had it, but we're hoping that it will continue from year to year. Three girls who play on one of the varsity teams at the school who are heading to post secondary next year received it. It was a good night for them, they are definitely worthy recipients of the scholarship."
