Three generations of Sutherland's will take to the track for a one off charity chuckwagon race at the Ponoka Stampede on Tuesday, June 27.

Kelly, Kirk, Mark and Dayton Sutherland will square off against each other and Mark Sutherland says it should be a special night, particularly for his son.

"It'll be a great experience for Dayton, because in a real race he'll get to race against his Grandpa and his Uncle, which he hasn't done, or me. I've raced against both of them in the $50,000 dash in Ponoka before, so that's not new. Dayton was outriding for me. The only difference is this time he'll have four horses, not one horse."

$23,000 was raised for the special race at the Ponoka Stampede Canvas Auction Friday, May 5.

The money will go to the Ponoka Festival of Trees, Pace Kids and Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Charities.

Mark says the race is a sort of send-off for his Dad, Kelly Sutherland, who'll retire at the end of the season.

Mark says it's likely the only time three generations of the Sutherland clan will be on the track at the same time.
