A trio of lumber thieves was recently caught in the act by Foothills RCMP.

On the morning of May 29, RCMP responded to reports of suspicious men at a construction site in the Artesia community.

On arrival, officers found three men loading lumber into a stolen cube van.

All three fled, though, with some help from Okotoks RCMP, one was caught at the scene.

Sarbjit Singh (40) of Calgary is facing charges including theft over $5000, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000, possession of break-in instruments, mischief under $5000, failure to comply with a probation order, and obstructing a police officer.

He was released from custody by a Justice of the Peace and is set to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court to speak to the charges.

Two other stolen vehicles were found nearby and believed to be tied to the suspect, and a warrant has been issued for 31-year-old Baljinder Sandhu of Calgary.

Police are also working to identify the third man.
