Southern Alberta will get a good view Sunday night of what's called the "Full Flower Supermoon total lunar eclipse".

According to the Rothney Observatory, we'll be able to see it with the naked eye.

We'll miss the first 90 minutes of the Penumbral stage but get a great view of the remaining 4 hours.

Totality begins at 9:29 p.m., peaks at 10:11 p.m. and ends at 10:53 p.m. for a total of 84 minutes of a blood red Moon display.

Unfortunately, the Rothney Observatory is sold out for the event but Neel Roberts says there are other great areas where it can be viewed.

They include the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area, Seton Chapel 530 Seton Passage, North Glenmore Park Parking Lot A and Nose Hill Park.

The next one isn't until November 8th, 2022.
