A great night for a skateboard competition in High River Wednesday at Skatemania.

Youth and Social Well-being Programmer with the Town Caitland Asmundson says it went really well.

"It was such a success, we were so excited to get so many youths out and so lucky to have the Compound YYC come out and help us with putting on the skateboarding competitions and we had a representative there from Vermin scooters who donated a whole lot of prizes which is so so kind and wonderful of them and then Rollick Co. of Diamond Valley came out as well and they donated a made-in Alberta deck that we ended up raffling off last night and so between all of that, pizza and good tunes it was overall a very successful evening."

Asmundson says Wednesday's event was a really great turnout as was the first event they did this summer and she's looking forward to these types of gatherings in the future.

"We've been running the event for quite a few years now and the youth in the community are starting to hear about it and come out and support it and enjoy the activities we put on out there."

There are two more events coming up, August 24 and September 7.
