It's no coincidence that National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day is Monday May 21st.

According to the Alberta RCMP, last year on the Victoria Day long weekend 2,321 traffic safety tickets were issued and 101 impaired drivers were removed from the road.

The purpose of the annual campaign is to reinforce safe driving measures in order to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. In addition to sharing traffic safety information throughout the week over its social media platforms, the Alberta RCMP will be enforcing sober driving over the Victoria Day long weekend on National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, Saturday, May 21.

They're encouraging motorists to think of others when they get behind the wheel and to choose safe driving behaviours.
