The CJHL's Top Rookie for the 2021-2022 season is an Okotoks Oiler.

Rieger Lorenz is the first Okotoks Oiler to receive the honour.

It's the latest accolade for Lorenz this year, who was named the AJHL Rookie of the Year in March and notched 4 assists in 4 games in the World Juniors at the end of April.

Lorenz, who's committed to the University of Denver, has had a remarkable season, with 38 goals and 47 assists over 60 games, and another 2 goals and 9 assists in 14 playoff games.

He recently had an impressive showing in this year's NHL scouting report, ranking 17th among North American skaters.

Though Lorenz is the first Oiler to be named Top Rookie, others have seen CJHL recognition, including Tyler Deis being named Coach of the Year for 2017-2018, and Jacob Bernard-Docker being named Top Defenceman for the same season.
