A steering committee has given a list of recommendation to the the province on advanced education.

The list includes the need for incentives for rural students who are under-represented in post-secondary institutions.

Alison Gates-Kriston with the province says the incentives are needed, because rural students face additional challenges because they usually have to leave their communities to attend school.

The government will look at the recommendations before announcing the its plans.

Some of the incentives for rural students include bursaries to cover moving expenses, and distance learning so students can stay in their home communities during and after their education.
