Seven individuals and two organizations were recently honoured by Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani for their contributions to helping those with mental health and addictions problems.

The awards were presented by the Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health and Addiction at the 10th annual True Awards ceremony at Government House. 

Stacey Meyer, a former principal at Highwood High School in High River is the recipient of the 2022 True Compassion Award.

His focus has been on mental health and youth, especially for those impacted by abuse.

According to his bio, his contributions include service with the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre, now the Luna Child Advocacy Centre, in Alberta’s public schools and as education manager for the Western Hockey League, as well as the Canadian Mental Health Association. 

He is currently a partner and VP of Precede Occupational Health Services.
