Grain Growers of Canada is one of more than 40 national organizations that have joined forces to fight the Federal Government's proposed tax changes for private corporations.

The group is called the Coalition for Small Business Tax Fairness.

Grain Growers President, Jeff Nielsen, says the timing of the 75-day consultation period, which began July 18, was not great for farmers.

"I think this summer in Western Canada, farmers have been a little bit more stressed. Here in South, Central Alberta, we are just starting harvest. When you look at it, to have an active consultation with producers, we don't have the time for it right now."

Nielsen says, the changes could have a major impact on intergenerational farm transfers.

The consultation period for the Liberal's proposed tax changes ends today.
