Two suspects have been charged by Claresholm RCMP in a recent incident that also relates to earlier pipe bomb explosions.

On Saturday, March 25 at approximately 9:30 p.m. Claresholm RCMP responded to a complaint of a loud bang coming from a garage within town.

A witness informed the officers they saw two people carry a person into a vehicle and then drove away.

The RCMP were then called to attend the hospital where an injured male was dropped off with serious injuries.

The officers were then able to return to the garage where the initial noise complaint was reported.

They discovered two people inside the garage and were able to execute a search warrant at the residence.

Claresholm RCMP found the following:

  • Various types of ammunition
  • Pieces of pipe
  • Fireworks
  • An explosive fuse
  • Ammunition that had been cut up to remove the gunpowder

Claresholm resident Jaden Ross Vincent (27), who was in the garage on the night of the explosion, has been charged with:

  • Using explosives with intent (x2)
  • Mischief under $5000 (x2)
  • Fail to comply with a release order (x2)

Vincent was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Fort McLeod Provincial Court on April 5, 2023.

And Michael John Wynia (40), also a resident of Claresholm, who was injured in the garage explosion, has been charged with:

  • Make an explosive substance (x3)
  • Mischief under $5000 (x3)
  • Cause an explosion (x3)
  • Possession of break in tools
  • Possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Wynia has been released on conditions and is set to make a court appearance in Fort McLeod Provincial Court on April 5, 2023.

RCMP confirmed the two accused are also connected to the March 4 and March 6 pipe bomb incidents in town.
