Bobby Hull, a legendary NHL and WHA hockey player has passed away at the age of 84.

The iconic figure had a 23-year pro career including playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Hartford Whalers as well as the World Hockey Association's Winnipeg Jets.

He was also the first player to sign a million-dollar contract he did famously at the corner of Portage Ave. and Main St. in Winnipeg.

Hull was the first player to score 50 goals in a season back in 1966.

He was also instrumental in popularizing the curved hockey stick along with fellow Blackhawk Stan Mikita.

Hull was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.

Bobby Hull is the father of another NHL alumnus Brett Hull.
