A very busy weekend at the Bomber Command Museum in Nanton for their 30th Anniversary celebrations.

Foothills MP John Barlow was one of the dignitaries on hand.

He says the Museum is vital to not only the Foothills, but the Country.

"You know now to see the expansion to bring the Halifax (bomber) here. You know it's really exciting, I've spoken to several of my colleagues. Erin O'Toole in Ontario and Alupa Clark in Quebec, and they want to come out here and tour it, and be part of helping to get that expansion project going."

Foothills MP John Barlow praised the Museum for their work and dedication and pledged his support for their planned expansion.

Liberal Senator Anne Cools made her annual visit to the Museum, paying tribute to the Museum and to those around the Commonwealth who made sacrifices during World War II and the role Bomber Command played in the War.

"It engaged many of the Commonwealth countries. I was born in the British West Indies, and so it engaged Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, all the British Commonwealth countries. And many of them came here to this area, to train before they actually went off."

Also on hand was Caroline Saunders, the new Consul General with the British Consulate in Calgary.

Liberal Senator for Toronto-Centre-York Anne Cools paid one of her many visits to the Bomber Command Museum both Friday and Saturday. She waxed poetic about Canada's role in the second World War and about the role of the Commonwealth, including her native Barbados in the war efforts.
