Smile Cookie Week is back again this year and so is the charity it supports.

For the second consecutive year High River's two Tim Horton's locations will raise money for the High River District Health Care Foundation.

Cathy Couey, fund development and communications officer with the Foundation, says it's returning to the Maternity department for something special for babies born with jaundice.

"And so, this year what we're purchasing with the funds is what they call a Bili blanket. What this blanket allows is for the infant to continue to have Bilirubin therapy while swaddled in a blanket so Mom or Dad or a loved one can hold them."

"Last year we crushed some goals and raised over $17,000 through the campaign.  That's a lot of cookies."

In a media release from the HRDHCF the local owners of the two Tim Horton's in High River, Kevin and Kim Generoux said "We are thrilled to invite the Foundation to be our 2024 Smile Cookie partner and to be able to support local families utilizing the High River Maternity. We had so much fun, last year, with the Foundation team and surpassed our Smile Cookie program goal raising over $17,000! The Smile Cookie campaign allows both our team and our guests to support the Maternity Unit at our High River Hospital.”

Foundation Executive Director Wendy Kennelly was thrilled too.

“A Tim Hortons Smile Cookie is a happy treat that can easily be a surprise for classrooms, co-workers, families, and customers. Everyone loves a chocolate chunk cookie! Plus, you feel great when you know the treat is also giving back locally too. I can only imagine how many cookies will be baked in the two High River Tim Hortons locations that week.”, says Foundation Executive Director, Wendy Kennelly.

You can also pre-order Smile Cookies through the Foundation or stop in at one of the Tim Hortons locations in town.
